QUALIFICATION AS AN EFL OR AN ESL SPEAKER: ABP

The criteria for qualification as either an “English as a Foreign Language” (EFL) speaker or an “English as a Second Language” (ESL) speaker, is as follows:

Speakers qualify when they:
  • Do not come from an English language speaking family,
  • Their social interactions have not primary been in English, and
  • They have not spent a majority of two periods or more of their primary, secondary, or tertiary education in an education system where English is the language of command.
