  • About the event

    The China National Championships is the National debate and public speaking tournament for pre-university students aged 13 to 17 years old. This event aims to provide an open and safe platform for young students in China to engage in parliamentary debating and public speaking in the English language.

    The upcoming Debate edition of China National Championships will be held in the British Parliamentary format. Competing teams will be composed of two speakers, each delivering a 7-minute substantive speech.

  • About Trainee Judges

    Debaters who want to learn more about the adjudication aspect of debate may apply as trainee judges for this event. Trainee judges will learn how to adjudicate debate rounds, score speeches, and how to properly deliver a verdict.

    DISCLAIMER: adjudications and verdicts made by trainee judges DO NOT, in any way, affect the results of the round.

  • Round 1

    During this round, trainee judges will be taught how to analyze a debate and dissect the arguments forwarded by the speakers.

  • Round 2

    During this round, trainee judges will learn how the scoring structure of a debate and will be taught how to properly score speeches.

  • Round 3

    Judge Test
    Trainee judges will deliver an oral adjudication and be evaluated by the quality of their performance.

  • Round 4

    During this round, trainee judges will learn the structure of giving feedbacks and how to properly deliver an oral adjudication.

  • Round 5

    Judge Test
    Trainee judges will deliver an oral adjudication and be evaluated by the quality of their performance.

  • Outrounds

    After the outrounds, trainee judges will have the opportunity to discuss and commentate on the debate with EduDrift debate specialists.
