About this class
For those with the thirst for advanced knowledge in competitive debating, this course is designed for those who wish to expand their current understanding of debate and rhetoric! This course is the perfect fit for those who wish to master the details of the debate, such as case construction, point of information, model building, and clash identification. This course is for those who have had experience with competitive debating. It is also for those who have a good grasp of the fundamentals and wish to delve deeper into more complex issues.

This class aims to develop champion speakers! Once a student has mastered the fundamental skills and techniques needed to perform consistently in a tournament, the next thing needed is a lot of practice and feedback. This course aims to deliver just that. This class features a mix of lectures and activities geared towards improving the skill sets the students already have. It first goes over more general strategies teams can explore and implement during their rounds, and introduces different skills unique to each speaker in a debate. Here, students will learn some advanced tips and tricks for case construction, as well as the different approaches one can take depending on the debate theme or topic. This course will introduce motion strategies tailor-fit for the level of skill students already have. The class will also learn how to better engage with the other team through strategic points of information and layered responses. Finally, this course also covers special topics on different themes such as feminism, international relations and politics, economics, and more!
